East Coast Business Brokers (ECBB) is seeking motivated, entrepreneurial professionals interested in building a rewarding career as a Business Broker. This role offers the opportunity to work with business owners and buyers across a wide range of industries while participating in meaningful transactions that help companies transition successfully.
If you are driven, professional, and interested in the world of business acquisitions, ECBB provides the training, systems, and mentorship necessary to succeed.
As a Business Broker, you serve as the intermediary between buyers and sellers of privately held businesses. Your role is to identify opportunities, connect qualified buyers with sellers, and guide both parties through the transaction process from introduction to closing.
Key responsibilities include:
Prospecting
Identifying business owners who may be considering a sale and connecting with potential buyers seeking acquisition opportunities.
Facilitating Meetings
Coordinating and leading discussions between buyers and sellers to evaluate fit, discuss terms, and move transactions forward.
Managing Communication
Ensuring consistent communication between all parties throughout the transaction process to maintain momentum and transparency.
ECBB offers a highly competitive commission structure designed to reward productivity and deal completion.
Experienced brokers may earn between 50% and 75% of the total commission, and in certain situations, up to 80%, depending on deal participation and structure.
For example:
A business sold for $2,000,000 with a 10% commission generates $200,000 in total commission.
Depending on participation in the transaction, a broker’s share could range from:
$100,000 (50%)
$150,000 (75%)
Up to $160,000 (80%) in certain circumstances
This structure allows brokers to benefit directly from the success of each completed transaction.
Business brokerage offers a flexible schedule that differs from a traditional 9–5 role. While certain meetings and negotiations are time-sensitive, brokers generally manage their own time and workflow.
This flexibility allows professionals to balance business development, client meetings, and personal commitments effectively.
Prospecting in business brokerage focuses on identifying opportunities rather than aggressive sales tactics. Proven methods include:
Introducing yourself to business owners within your local market
Leaving informational materials or letters for potential sellers
Making outreach calls to business owners
Networking through professional and personal relationships
Our training program provides structured guidance on how to build a pipeline of potential listings and buyer relationships.
A critical element of business brokerage is coordinating productive meetings between buyers and sellers. Successful brokers create an environment where both parties can communicate openly and evaluate whether a transaction makes sense.
Strong communication, preparation, and follow-up are key to successfully guiding deals toward closing.
Success in business brokerage does not depend on prior industry experience alone. The most important traits are consistency, persistence, and professionalism.
Brokers who regularly follow up with business owners and buyers, maintain strong relationships, and remain engaged with their pipeline are the most successful in closing transactions.
At ECBB, we provide a structured training and mentorship program designed to prepare new brokers for success.
Our training sessions cover essential topics including:
Prospecting strategies and lead generation
Conducting buyer and seller meetings
Communication techniques throughout a transaction
Understanding the deal structure and closing process
Following training, new brokers participate in a mentorship program where they work alongside experienced professionals and observe real transactions in progress.
This hands-on experience includes:
Exposure to live deal negotiations
Learning how experienced brokers manage client relationships
Understanding market trends and valuation considerations
Proven Systems
Our proprietary brokerage platform tracks buyers, listings, and deal activity, providing brokers with a structured system for managing transactions.
Experienced Leadership
Our leadership team has decades of experience in business brokerage and transaction advisory.
Strong Market Presence
ECBB represents businesses across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Florida, providing brokers access to a wide regional market.
Real Transaction Experience
Through our mentorship structure, new brokers gain real-world experience participating in active deals.
